Dwyane Wade's 14-year-old daughter Zaya recently came out as trans, and asked her dad and stepmom, Gabrielle Union, to help spread her message for her. Dwyane first shared the news during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, declaring his support for Zaya and his pride in having a child who's part of the LGBTQ community. At the time, he said he was taking his part in her life very seriously.
Dwyane has publicly spoken about his love and support for Zaya on several occasions, including on Good Morning America while talking to Robin Roberts.
"We know there's other families out there dealing with their kids finding themselves and learning who they are," he said. "I'm not going to sit here and act like we have all the answers. I'm not going to sit here and act like before our child came home and sat us down, that we weren't ignorant parents when it comes to the world. When I say we're learning from our 12-year-old, we're literally learning from our child.''
2: Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron allegedly adopted a little boy from Africa and, when he was just three years old, declared the kid “transgender” and began to refer to it as “my daughter”, something that made many people uncomfortable.
While talking to the Daily Mail, Charlize explained that her main goal is protecting both of her daughters. "I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive," she said of August and Jackson. "They were born who they are and exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be, is not for me to decide.
Most people opposed it because they believed it was simply PR over the back of her child.
3: R Kelly and Jaah Kelly
Jaah Kelly, one of the children who R. Kelly and Hollywood Exes star Drea Kelly share came out as trans at 13, detailed his story for his followers on Instagram, stating very plainly that he is a boy.
"I hated dresses, I liked girls, I didn't want breasts, I didn't want a taco area, I didn't want long hair, I am a boy," Jaah explained at the time in a post that has since been deleted.
In hindsight, she mentions that her experience of coming out as a transgender was traumatic.
“When I posted that video, I was so scared,” Jaah told the magazine. “When I was younger, I always felt like I had to make a choice. I knew that I was a girl who liked other girls. But because of what I was taught, I felt like the only way you could like another girl is if you were a boy.”
Not long after Jaah came out, R Kelly's ex wife, Drea spoke to VH1 about her love for her son, and how truly impressed she was by his courage when he came out.
4: Sade Adu

Back in 2016, Sade's son, Izaak, came out as trans for the first time in an Instagram post, sharing with his followers on his then-private account that he would be transitioning and starting hormone therapy. According to Teen Vogue, Izaak wrote, "Today is the first day of the rest of my life," in his post on April 10, and he seemed to feel secure in his decision.
In the summer of 2019, Izaak underwent surgery, taking the next step in his transition.
He wrote; “Mr and Mrs Adu-Watts. 04.16.21. An unforgettable day, I love you my, girl. MY WIFEEEE Mrs. Adu-Watts” Margie who also shared photos from the wedding with Hawaii as the geo-location, wrote; “MY MF HUSBAND YALL”
5: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
The actors Jolie and Pitt's oldest biological child, named Shiloh and assigned female at birth, told the former couple that they (the child's pronoun) would rather be called John in 2014.
John has been wearing suits and other gender-nonconforming clothing for years, and, speaking with Vanity Fair in 2010, Jolie discussed embracing her child's clothing choices.
In 2018, EJ Johnson and his mom Cookie Johnson made an appearance on Willow and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk, where Cookie revealed that when EJ came out to his parents, it “was a little tough” because Magic Johnson wasn’t supportive at first.
“As I grew older, as my wife talked to me, I couldn’t [judge EJ]. I had to accept who he was and who he wanted to be. He actually helped me get there. Because he was so proud. Cookie said, ‘Look in the mirror.’ I said, ‘You’re right.’ Because I’m proud of who I am. And he got it from me,” Magic told Variety in April 2022.
