THE DAY DBANJ CAME TO KAMPALA
Thursday the 12 th of November was a pretty fun day for me.The day before, my editor had asked me if I would like to attend a press conference of Dbanj.I almost declined the invite,after all I had better things to do.
But I said yes.Turns out it was a good idea afterall.I got to hang with one of Africa's finest musicians and ofcourse take pictures.

Dbanj is one of the most popular African musicians on the international platform and is best known for songs such as 'Oliver Twist' and 'fall in love.'
He has such a strong personality and his sense of humour and dramatic antics kept us all glued onto him from the time he stepped into the room, to when he left.Like a real super star he had our attention,that we quickly forgot that the man had kept us waiting for two hours,in the same hotel he was sleeping in.

WHAT I WORE TO DINNER RECENTLY

Hey fashionitas!!!!!!!I recently got invited to a UN dinner party:And as is with all sophisticated things you must dress the part.So i pulled out this hot pink dress which cost me a lot of money lol, and paired it with a multitude of accessories. Lupita Nyong'o with her natural hair and headbands was my fashion muse.
What stood out for me, however, was the essence of the event,which was to empower women,advocate for maternal health and better planning for Uganda.
Iam very passionate about women empowerment and  was actively involved in politics in my university days so this dinner certainly gave me a platform to mingle with like minded people.

 Omotola dazzled in blue Cinderella inspired gown to the premiere of the New James bond movie, Spectre. She was a special guest of the British high Commissioner, Paul Thomas Arkwright and was styled by popular Nigerian stylist Ezinne chinkata with makeup by Bimpe Onakoya...

Now to the dress,which is the main focus of this blog,lol,a friend of mine intimated to me just a few hours ago that she thinks this dress is a bit too much.Apparently it has a lot of material.And could have looked better if it were shorter.

I disagree.I think its perfect!The colour is awesome,and for a woman of her status the length is perfect.Am not sure about the hair though.What do you guys make of the entire outfit?More below......

When one is a fashion designer,the pressure to always  look perfect  can be a lot. But Sylvia Owori is different,even on her off-days she looks amazing.That is how professional she is!

Born Adetoun Ajiboye,'Tounaj' is a multi talented woman.She describes herself as a fashion freak/stylist,trend setter,business woman,make up artiste,poet/writer,model and a style star.A lot,right?

Desire Luzinda is a lovely soul,from the very few times i have met her.She is that girl you want to hug because she is so down to earth and relatable.You can talk to her about anything and she would understand.The last time i interviewed her,she was very open yet fun,strong yet sensual.

She is also very generous with her time and money,its fun being around  her.But what i love the most about her,is that she always looks good,no matter how she feels,she will show up looking like a million bucks.White is her favourite colour which means she is a very clean girl.

Huddah versus Jaymie

Both of them are famous socialites,the only difference is that Huddah comes from Kenya and Jaymie Kardash is Ugandan. 

Its not really clear what these two ladies do for a living or where they get their money from but they both live fast lives,driving posh cars and sipping on expensive drinks.

Huddah is the more famous of the two having represented Kenya in the Big Brother Africa competition.

Zari is looking good after giving birth to her fourth child only a few weeks ago.Not many mothers can afford to flaunt their bodies after giving birth to four childen, but Zari does, leaving us wondering how she manages.

I got to know Komee through a fashionista friend of mine and have been a loyal stalker since.Speaking of stalking, am not the only one, as the fashionista boasts of a huge 127,000 followers on Instagram.
Komee is also a television personality in Nigeria,a former Miss tourism,and a fashion designer.Yes she makes most of these amazing outfits herself.

WHAT TOOK PLACE AT THE RED AVENUE PARTY

Friday night at Guvnor was a blast.Fashionistas led by city stylist Ahumuza Brian lit up the venue in their all red outfits.I wore red too,u should see my pictures,waiting for  photographer x to send them in,lol!!!
It was my first time going to a club so i was a little apprehensive at first but i had work to do there,so i had no option,lol.I later grew into the party and  enjoyed it.
Celebrities such as Navio,who by the way as i discovered is a very good dancer, Bebe cool, Sheeba, Helen lukoma and leilah Kanyondo,Radio of Good life were all there happening away.
Sheebah Karungi one of the main performers of the night put up a stellar performance,chic can dance ,i tell you,as revellers fought to catch a glimpse of her.i even talked to her and she later handed me her number.Isnt she down to earth???

WHO WORE IT BETTER?JUSTINE NAMEERE VERSUS MODEL IN LONG SLEEVED MAXI DRESS

Justine Nameere is a local television presenter who is currently running for the position of youth member of parliament for central region.These are old pictures of her from yester -years that am using so please dont confuse them with who Justine is now.
She looked radiant in this long sleeved red dress for a personal photoshoot while the model on the left looked smashing too for a commercial photoshoot.
The model wore hers with a black purse and high heeled shows complete with cascading hair.
Justine on the other hand chose brown and black wedges and rocked her treated hair in a puff with some earrings.

FALLING IN LOVE WITH PINK

I have been a loyal lover of the colour red,almost to a point of obsession.So it wasnt until my wardrobe was exposed to a shade of pink that i like,that i decided to switch my loyalty.lol.
It all started when i bought this skirt,(isn't it lovely???)that i was convinced i had found my true love of all colours.
Infact,ask me what my best colour is now and i will tell you its hot pink.
Its a hot vibrant type of  hue that is close to red,(am not straying so far,lol,)and absolutely enchanting.

THE CROP TOP AND  FLARED TROUSERS TREND

When crop tops first came around,a few people were afraid of wearing them reasoning that they would make them look cheap and indecent.

Most of these women, being working mothers, were not so welcoming of the idea that their belly would be out for the whole world to see.

So being the fashionista that i am(lol) i have decided to show you a few looks on how to wear the crop top without looking cheap or even totally indecent.

The trick is to reveal very little of your belly/stomach in a way that is more classy than cheap.

Then compensate for the revealed belly with wide legged trousers that will cover the rest of your lower body.

TRENDS WE LOVE:KAFTANS

A kaftan by definition is a robe like clothing.Kaftans do well for women of all sizes ,depending on how they are styled or draped across the body.
They are even more amazing because they can be worn anywhere,from work to the beach and to that weekend party.

Kaftans are easy to wear, comfortable and decent,attributes that every woman longs for every once in a while
The trick is to know which type of Kaftan looks good on your body shape.For example a plus size woman would look smashing in a long flowing kaftan,while a petite size woman would look better with one that is more fitting onto the body.
